Price?
“7 No man can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for him– 8 the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough– 9 that he should live on forever and not see decay.”
– Psalm 49:7-9 (NIV84)“And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.”
– Zechariah 12:10 (NIV84)“25 Jesus called them together and said, ‘You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave– 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.’”
– Matthew 20:25-28 (NIV84)“19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.”
– 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV84)
Although the grace of God costs us nothing, it cost God everything. The price demanded to redeem a life is too high for any payment except for God Himself. Jesus Christ is our grace. Jesus himself is the ransom of God, our redemption. Jesus’ birth, life, death, resurrection, ascension and return is the grace of God. Jesus is the one they have pierced.
