The word “grace” appears very little in the Old Testament books. However, it is inspiring to note that the word “gracious” appears many times.

While the New Testament books expound on the grace of the Lord in detail, the Old Testament books seem to present the graciousness of the Lord, looking forward to the grace that would be revealed by the Lord who is gracious.

The book of Psalms tops the list of using the word “gracious”.

Psalms 25:16 Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.

Psalms 67:1 For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm. A song. May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us, Selah

Psalms 86:15 But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.

Psalms 103:8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.

Psalms 111:4 He has caused his wonders to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and compassionate.

Psalms 112:4 Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man.

Psalms 116:5 The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.

Psalms 119:29 Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me through your law.

Psalms 119:58 I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise.

Psalms 145:8 The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.
